Sex and exercise

If you think you don’t have enough stamina or flexibility to enjoy sex comfortably, you may want to choose to have sex. Having sex is an exercise to improve sexual performance and function. It can help make sex more satisfying for you and your partner. The term “having sex” was coined by celebrity trainer Jason Russell. It is interesting to note that physical fitness can improve your sex life, and that a happy and healthy sex life can enhance your overall health as well.

The benefits of having sex

Fitness can help improve your sex life by making sex more comfortable as well as reducing the risk of erectile dysfunction and arousal problems. This also helps people feel more comfortable and confident during sex.

Exercise can also reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, which can lead to sexual problems. Here are three categories of exercises that you can do to improve your sexual performance.

Aerobic exercises

Aerobic exercise such as walking is a great way to start exercising if you’ve been out of practice. Aerobic exercise increases your heart rate, helps maintain a healthy weight, improves blood pressure, and boosts your fitness levels. It may also help treat erectile dysfunction. Swimming is also a great exercise and you can also do running, jogging and jumping rope.

Pelvic floor exercises

Pelvic floor exercises strengthen the pelvic floor — which includes the group of muscles that support the bladder. Kegels are a great form of pelvic floor exercise. It involves tensing your muscles, as if you were holding in your urine. Try tensing and releasing the same muscles used to stop urination several times a day. Gradually increase the duration of muscle tension – start with 5 seconds and work up to 30 seconds. You can also do squats, which will strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and abdominal muscles.

Strength and flexibility training

Increasing your strength and flexibility can make sex easier and more comfortable. Try yoga and pilates to improve flexibility. Certain yoga poses can also be adopted in sexual positions. To increase your strength, choose weight-bearing and body-weight exercises. These include leg raises, knee bends, squats, push-ups, pull-ups, and dips.
